Privacy Policy
NetDrop · Last updated: July 16, 2026
QAYHAM (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the NetDrop mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how NetDrop handles information when you use the app. NetDrop is designed for local, device-to-device file sharing on your Wi‑Fi network. We do not operate cloud accounts or central file servers for your transfers.
1. Summary
- NetDrop does not require you to create an account.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in NetDrop.
- Files are transferred directly between devices on your local network.
- Most app data stays on your device unless you choose to share files with another device.
2. Information NetDrop uses
NetDrop may process the following information to provide its features:
- Device name (alias) — a label you choose so nearby devices can recognize you.
- Device model and type — shown to other devices during discovery (for example, phone model).
- Local IP address — used to connect to other devices on the same network.
- Device fingerprint — a random identifier generated on your device to distinguish it from others on the network.
- Files you select — sent only to a device you choose when you start a transfer.
- Transfer history — stored locally on your device (sender/receiver name, file names, sizes, outcome).
- App settings — such as port, theme, and optional HTTPS preference, stored locally.
- Security certificates — optional self-signed TLS material stored locally if you enable encrypted traffic.
3. How NetDrop uses information
We use the information above only to:
- Discover nearby NetDrop devices on your local network
- Send and receive files between devices you approve
- Show transfer progress and history inside the app
- Save received files to your device storage
- Remember your preferences between app launches
4. Local network communication
NetDrop communicates over your local Wi‑Fi network using UDP multicast and direct HTTP/HTTPS connections between devices. When you send or receive files, data is exchanged with the other device on your network—not with QAYHAM servers. You should only use NetDrop on networks you trust.
5. Data storage and retention
- Settings, history, and security data are stored on your device using local app storage.
- Received files are saved to folders on your device (for example, Pictures/NetDrop, Movies/NetDrop, Download/NetDrop on Android).
- You can clear transfer history and reset app data from Settings → Reset app.
- Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device.
6. Permissions (Android)
NetDrop may request permissions needed for its features, including:
- Network access — to discover devices and transfer files on your local network
- Wi‑Fi / multicast — to find nearby devices
- Storage / media — to let you pick files to send and save files you receive
- Photos / camera roll — when you choose images or videos to send
NetDrop only accesses files and media that you explicitly select.
7. Third-party services
NetDrop may download open-source fonts from Google Fonts the first time the app UI loads, if your device is online. That request is made directly to Google’s font service and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. NetDrop does not send your files or transfer content to Google Fonts.
We do not integrate advertising networks, crash reporting, or analytics platforms in NetDrop.
8. Children’s privacy
NetDrop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through the app, contact us and we will assist with deletion of local app data.
9. Your choices
- Change your device name and settings in the app at any time.
- Decline incoming transfers you do not want.
- Clear history or reset the app from Settings.
- Disable optional HTTPS if you prefer plain HTTP on your local network.
10. Security
Transfers occur on your local network. Optional HTTPS uses a self-signed certificate generated on your device. Local network traffic may be visible to others on the same network if HTTPS is disabled. Use NetDrop only on trusted networks.
11. International users
NetDrop processes data on your device and on your local network. We do not transfer your files to QAYHAM servers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of NetDrop after changes means you accept the updated policy.
